Township Manager

Joseph M. Zichelli, Esq. is the Township Manager of Cedar Grove. Entrusted with overseeing the administration of all government departments, his mission is to provide stellar service to Cedar Grove’s 12,800 residents while maintaining a low and stable tax rate achieved through prudent budget management.

Prior to his tenure as Township Manager, Mr. Zichelli was an elected Councilman. In July of 2021, Joe was appointed Deputy Mayor of the Township. From 2015 to 2020, he served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, serving two years as Vice Chairman, and from 2021 to 2023, as a Class III Member of the Planning Board. A former liaison to the Cedar Grove Historical Society, Joe knows and appreciates the rich history of Cedar Grove and incorporates these values into his management style while bringing a 21st-century energy to the post.

A lifelong Cedar Grove resident, Joe received his BA (summa cum laude) in Political Science from Seton Hall University in 2018 where he received the Departmental Honors Citation for graduating with the highest grade point average in the department. After college, in 2022, he received a JD from Seton Hall University School of Law. Joe is a licensed attorney admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
