Winter Programs

Registration for all Winter Programs will begin on October 1st.

Suburban Travel Basketball

Children grades 5-8 will have the opportunity to tryout for the Suburban Basketball Travel League. This league is more competitive than the Recreation Basketball Leagues and will not guarantee playing time. Tryouts will be held on October 22nd and 25th at designated time slots.

Recreation Basketball (Clinics and Leagues)

Offering Basketball for Children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Sunday Clinics (Grades K-2) – Coach Joe from Hardcore Hoops, along with the CGHS Basketball teams and coaching staff, will run this clinic teaching skills, drills and fundamentals of the game, while having FUN!

3rd & 4th Grade Recreation League – Coach Joe from Hardcore Hoops, the CGHS Basketball teams and coaching staff and parent volunteers, will run this league teaching skills, drills and fundamentals of the game, while having fun and have the kids participating in games.

5th-8th Grade Recreation League – This league is run by all volunteer coaches. We are also incorporating professional developmental training with Coach Joe from Hardcore Hoops this year! There will be a workout to pick teams held on November 3rd at designated times. Kids will have the opportunity to succeed at the game while having FUN!

Junior Wrestling

This program will teach your child the basics of wrestling. Coaches will teach skills, fundamentals, agility and strength training in a safe and fun environment. Mandatory items needed; Sneakers or Wrestling Shoes & Head Gear.

Indoor Hockey

Indoor Street Hockey clinic provided to teach basic hockey/street hockey skills. Grades K-1 is clinic style where they will practice once a week. Grades 2-6 will practice once a week and have games on Saturdays. This is a Recreation League so we are here for the kids and to have fun! This program will run from mid-December through beginning of March. Parent volunteers are needed for this program. Mandatory items needed; hockey helmet, gloves and soccer-style shin guards.

Mountain Creek Ski Trips

Four Sunday Trips to Mountain Creek. Registrants will take a bus from Cedar Grove Town Hall with experienced chaperones.

Preference given to 6th-8th grade students (High School students will be permitted if space allows)

Dr. STEM for Young Engineers

Former elementary STEM teacher, Larry “Doc” Siegel, introduces the Engineering Design Process to young engineers who will build towers, bridges, egg catchers and more. They will collaborate, brainstorm solutions, design, construct, test and present 3D solutions. No child is too young to think like an  engineer. After all, it’s about thinking!!! Kinetic Kidz

This 8 week gross/fine motor skills class for ages 2-4 with their care giver, will include a series of warm ups, across the floor and introduction of a movement theme. Kinetic Kidz is based on the four elements of dance: Body, Space, Time and Force. This class will mentor caregivers on how to incorporate more movement based activities within their toddler’s days. (One care giver per child is required)

Ballet & Tap

Is an introduction to ballet/tap for ages 5-6. This class will teach your child about strength, flexibility, mobility, and control. Beginning ballet will teach the basics of proper alignment, ballet terms as well as creative use of scarves and introduction to different music forms. The class teaches the basics of tap through vocabulary, rhythmic analysis, and change of weight. The object of this dance form is to master the use of feet and body in playing melodic patterns and drumming out rhythms. The tap dancer is the music or in other words the composer. This ballet/tap class will also enhance balance, fitness, sense of rhythm, self-expression, coordination, musicality, as well as promoting self-discipline and boosting confidence.

Music Theater

This eight week course will introduce the students to acting, singing, and dancing and the world of musical theatre. They will focus on learning the terminology of the theatre, creating a character, vocalization, creative writing and choreography. For the acting segment of this class, we will focus on improvisation, as we free each actor of their inhibitions. Acting is important for children of all ages, as it strengthens their self-esteem. At the end of the 8 week course we will have an informal showing of the work we have accomplished.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular

This trip is limited to the first 45 registrants. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is a one-of-a-kind celebration for family, friends, and loved ones. Share in the joy with the Rockettes, Santa, the Nutcracker, and the unforgettable Living Nativity. No one does it better than the Radio City Christmas Spectacular! Sunday, November 17th.
